Almost missed - Almost Forever

It was red

Promised bulk mega photos to Almost Forever, but neglected to find out what time their set started. Walked in as they were finishing their second last song - but I didn't know that so I was still negotiating position when they finished up. F*ck. Also f*ck parking around four5nine tonight. I did manage to catch 20-odd seconds of a pretty cool jam from their final song.

Band 2 of the night was Janitor. Three piece with chick on drums, and she is an absolute basher. Thumps 'em so they stay thumped. It felt the band got lost in a bit of a jam session toward the end of the set, but they finished their night off with an absolute banger so it was all good! They look like they are new to each other, I feel they'll be a force once they get a bit more cohesion. Will see again

The entire Janitor set was bathed in red spotlights and stagelights. Every photo, every video of the set is washed out red. If the soundboard worked by esp, it would have been overheating with the rate of commands i was sending begging for a change in colour. Was just about to go and ask physically but the set was ending and I was enjoying the music. As the last note played, the lights changed to a lovely calming 'face visible' blue. I had to ask 'why?'. Apparently it was a specific request from the band: 'all set - all red'.

Lillith seem to be a new fave. Heavy guitar drone rock (a la The Floors), but they also throw in gothic elements (gothic doom rock - has nobody done this before?). Lead vox rocks with the band during instrumental breaks, there's hair everywhere, and guitar solos aplenty. This is good rock. Will see again.

Kenny Drives are brand new to me, but not to the four5nine punters. Lead vox looks very much to be the guy from Homebrand - though I should probably check before publishing so i don't look silly (to the millions of readers of the blog 🤣) if i'm wrong. The music's good, they are tight, but it's not quite my thing - sorta, kinda a bit like how Homebrand isn't (wasn't?) quite my thing. They are good with crowd-work and I may have quietly mentioned this to Almost Forever's lead vox - coz I so know what I'm talking about, rofl.
