Anzac Saturday @ Mojo's
First band I saw (second of the night) were Devon Street. Got some 'Drumposition' footage. Tested raw footage videoing, with mostly success - now I'm a video editor! Unfortunately, the video not using raw is all red. Band and set were good, but some equipment dramas plagued them. (Kick drum broke during Radiohead's 'High'.) There might have also been some nerves at play, there were a few relly's there. 😆
Figurehead can rock and they have fans. 6 piece with keys and part time guitar by lead vocals. Singer has stage presence, and enjoys a bit of dancing while he's up there. Keys also plays sax, but there was not nearly enough of it. If you're gonna bring the sax, you should use it, I say. Quite like the lead guitar work - soaring moments were too few, imho. Bassist from Blush that's stalking me was at the show. One song (chorus: We all have heartache, we all feel pain, we all are human, we're all the same) became a singalong. Very enjoyble, would see again.
King Blue like to rock! Lead vocals also has that role in Blush, (hence the stalker). Really good set, they know how to rev up a crowd - who were already in party mode thanks to the support - and have some good tunes. I took 4 videos! A bit disappointed by covering KoL, especially since it looked like the last number, but they played 'one more song' which went a long way to redemption. Yup, would see again. Also, look at the video quality. I did OK. 😁
Really good night. Mojo's know what they're doing. I think Devon Street are moving up my faves list and Figurehead and King Blue will be worth keeping an eye on. Should not have missed CNTR - must do better mcalex.
