Apex Chick Rock
Hot Machine have crossed the sandpit to challenge WA rock queens Legs Electric to see who can wield the best axe, pound the heaviest drums, sing the slickest, and generally rock the hardest. Let the battle (of the bands) begin!
mcT'd Serpentine. Not unexpected and at the end of the night, unusually, not too disappointed in myself. I don't necessarily believe you can have too much of a good thing, but you can certainly be stuffed full of it and not need any more for a while. 🤣
Will see you someday Serpentine, if the bands you were supporting wanted you on baord, I know you will be worth watching.
NB: There are more Legs Electric videos than Hot Machine due to the constant red in HM's lighting. 2 HM vids are too crap to upload.
Hot Machine can rock! Oh fuck, they can rock. Impeccable music, guitar solos better than almost anything I've seen, drums are on point and lead vox is a rock belter. Rock and roll? Yes. This is the way.
Legs Electric had better bring their A-game.
And they did! Kicking goals from the start, Legs Electric had the crowd in the palms of their hands. I didn't hear Tuesday Girl but did catch most other stuff from Two Sides ep. They are really tight. I could not pick any flaws from listening to the ep on my cd (remember those?) copy. A really well-presented set. It was awesome!
And the winner? I hate to say it, but musically I'm giving it to 🏅 Hot Machine 🏅. Legs Electric probably do a better show - they have the uniforms, and their crowd work, and band tightness are stronger than Hot Machine, but the guitar solos, an extra guitarist, the rockier set - in my overinflated opinon the a cappella Proud Mary let you down a bit, LE, I know the crowd loved it, but a) it's a cover and you guys write original material really well, and b) err, just coz i write as PerthRocks, not PerthSings 😁🤣
Just based on the night i would say Legs Electric are the band I'd go to for the party gig - think NYE, any major festival and Hot Machine are the band I'd go to for a 'band material' gig - if I absolutely had to choose. TBH I'd go see both again (and again) in a heartbeat.
