Bella!

Overthinking is in the wild! Bella Dyer is a fully-fledged WA artist with her own release!

First set of the night - yeah I was here on time - even if only coz Travis started ten minutes late 😁 was Travis Marc Green. Crooner, needs drums, but that voice! Guitar good, could plug it in 😀. Interesting to watch this space (would see again), says Jeff Buckley is an influence, wonder if he does any of his in a full set? Wait, what? Did I just semi-request a cover?

Jack Hamilton was 2nd up. Saw them at the Indy for the debut single, but got a little bit of an impression that they've rested on their laurels a bit. Still don't like that band name is the name of the lead guy, coz they are very much a group, even if a project-type group. Don't think I got a songvid. (Ed: 😯) They rock, very danceable - though nobody was dancing - and worth buying a headline show ticket for, but the punters want more and new and more and new (hint, hint: followup single). I do want them to keep at it. Would see again.

Caught the last two thirds of Rocks n Rhubarb. {{Shout out to the burger joint next door - the QBV burger? Yum. }} They are a four piece, chicks on rhythm & bass, guys on drums, lead g, and dual vox from the dual guitars. Nicely rocking show, they work well together - brand new as far as I'm aware, but feel like a unit that are comfortable with each other; something usually only found through time. Definitely (according to me) could use +10bpm. Would see again.

Bella! Smashed it! Some nerves evident, which is good; if you don't have nerves on your debut show, you don't have enough passion. The nerves did not stop the show - even while contending with mishaps (@Bella, do remember to prepare a joke next time - you just can't rely on the crowds 🤣). Overthinking is a damn fine song, (though - coz me - I'd like it to rock a bit harder, and +10bpm 😁). Heart and soul has been poured into the debut single, so why on subsequent listens, do I pick up a sense of emotional restraint? There's a bit of that in the vocal delivery too. When she sings loud her voice steps up and shows itself, grandly, but a lot of the set felt like it could (should?) have been sung louder. I'm very looking forward to seeing Bella gain the confidence to unleash full power - both emotionally and vocally.

There's a musical force coming, WA!
