Cryptids PreAlbum gig
I got there on time! Went with The Bird, coz i've got my little spot there. :-D It was all very dark. So dark, I could barely see the bands (until i mentioned it to the sound guy). There were Asshats in the crowd of the first set - nicely dealt with by the artist.
ERRORSERROR (possibly with .EXE at the end). Experimental electronica. Darker, and heavier than CNTR (my only other point of comparison). ERRORS' set was one long piece. I picked up a 'train' section near the start, and two different areas near the end - going by differences in the relentless backbeat. I don't know much about this artist, but I think I'd like to know more. My video attempt was useless. You can't see a thing.

Nigella Screaming - a duo consisting of keys/vocals and guitar/vocals. What a name. I think I see the Nigella reference, but there was no screaming. (Some screaming might actually be cool. :-D) Good set, boppy and melodic, with goth undertones - I almost found myself doing the gravedigger (aka mopey two-step) - but I wouldn't mind it being a bit faster. I also think a drummer would be a good addition. Computers aren't nuanced enough (yet!). Not a very good video - it was so dark.
The third group of the night were Ribs. First time the drumkit was in use for the night. Classic piano sound from keys - a nice touch. It seemed Ribs' backing singer wasn't going to start, but was coaxed into getting on stage at the last minute. More of Perth's chick rock talent and easily the rockiest set of the night so far. Message in a song about sexual harassment was lost on a group swaying near me. Apparently their girlfriends would think sexual harassment was ok, if it was them doing it. Video is too crap.

Headliners Cryptids finished the show. Really liked the set, judging by the few notes. (If I'm listening and err, dancing, I'm not writing). Video is better, because the lights were brighter.
Two songs in the next video that closed out the set. Watch for surprise guitar effects at 5:35 or so :-)
