Good Thursday - 4play @ Lynott's
Walked into the end of Announcer's set. Got half a video and remembered stills! Yay. So, Announcer: grunge riffs, heavy without being metal. Good groove, had someone bopping at the bar :-D. 3 guitars - one taking on keys as well - and drums. Would see again, on only one song.

Saw the full Lilacs set, may have got a decent video or two*. Also may have named a song :-D (Don't be Shy). I like 'em, even though they're not as fast as I'm usually into. Lead vocals are powerful, there was (some) screaming guitar, and the exquisite finger-picking basswork all come together nicely. Did a cover of the current fave 'Sweet Disposition' (I'm going to have to get a Disposition Drummers page happening - this is #3). Said hello to band after, coz, you know, the new name of the song. :-D Would see again.

Last set of the night was Streetlights. 5 piece with 3 guitars, keys and drums. Had a fan club - Jordy, iirc. I like lots of guitars, i liked the crowd interaction, i liked the music, but it didn't grab me. Got a bit of rocking together (read: Freebird) in one song, and could use more of that, but i don't think they've quite got that innate cohesion just yet. Instrument swapping was unusual, lead singer rotation was good, but would make a good show thing if coordinated better. OMG, they covered 'Everybody wants to rule the world'!
Very enjoyable band to watch, I like the banter and chat amongst themselves and the crowd during the show, and the music's really good, but not quite rock enough to my tastes (I love TFF, but I don't know about doing a cover ~ maybe it's just me). It looks like it's just me - this isn't just a cover to help fill the set - I have it on good authority this is going to be a single. So, a really good show: would see again.
And, by request 😃, the cover of Tears For Fears' Everybody Wants to Rule the World:

*Video issues. AI - Dolby Processing caused video to flare like crazy whenever spotlight hit it (but looked gorgeous on the phone viewer). Was resigned to losing about 3 GB of video, but investigated video editing and corrected variable frame rate to get something useful out of them (even if 1.5x the size). Thanks Shotcut editor.
Except, when it came to uploading time, I found they all had no sound. Local copy is fine, upload copy is silent. I guess that's Dolby noise reduction for you. 😃. For this reason, I only added photos to this page.
But then, I found exporting the converted file reintroduced a sound version. The world is good and videos are back again! Yay shotcut.
So. a really good night, but it was finished quite early - though given the day that's not a huge surprise. I popped into the Bird on the way to the car, but it was all over - worth it for the crowd entertainment. People are funny when they're pissed.
