Grief for Pretty Jupiter's Fever @ Lynott's
A hot start: sweating in my shirt n' shirt, wolf whistled at on the way in, tix chick liked my hat and the first band were rocking hard as I walked in.
I wasn't upset with my timing - up until the point where I got my car domme's instructions wrong and tried to go to the footy stadium instead of Northbridge. A nice twenty minute detour.
Walked in to a rocking good song from Good Grief. Went to the bar thinking this will be good and heard 'thankyou and good night' just as I was ordering first drink. So, I missed Good Grief, but on that one song, will see again. Sat down in a church pew to write notes. I like Lynott's!
Next into the fray were Just Jupiter. 5 piece with chicks on lead vocals and drums - the second time I've seen this combination, Teenage Vertigo being the first - and lots of hair. They came out with a screaming guitar sound, but this was a bit of a tease. Drummer belt 'em out, but the rest of the band don't seem to get on board for the full ride, except a couple songs. The sound is melodic - you get to enjoy what the guitar is saying - but could rock harder. Last song was opus - went through a couple styles before featuring early 60s psychedelic flavoured guitar solo. They announce songs - bonus. Talk to the crowd - double bonus. Seem to know how to be bigger than just local. Will see again in a lineup - hopefully with more guitar :-D. Sound guy had red on for the Jupiter set - my camera doesn't seem to like that so much - even on new settings. :-{

Third in the setlist - prettypretty. Seen 'em before, here, with Thank You Frank, but they were in the mcT zone and I've got should see again in notes. Band are pub rock personified, two guitars, vocals and drums, with lead guitar doing backup singing when required. Rock is hard, driving - tends a bit 90s alternative in places, but with a pub rock soul. Lead vocals could talk the talk, has a 'The Reluctant Singer' vibe - gets better when the surf hoodie is removed. Couple bass solos appeared which were interesting. Lead could do more solos. Good rocking band - would like to see with a bigger crowd. Will see again. Video focus goes funny in number 1 (barrel recording), sound gets distorted in number 2 (?). Ran out of set before they ran out of time, so finished with a cover - this is fair enough.

Fevermind finished off the night. Rocking 5 piece group. Being sensitive and aware prevents me from making a double bass joke, but I will say Jeez, does he rock hard! Guitar riff driven, good rock 'n' roll. Know what they're doing and should'a had a bigger crowd to play to (not just me and prettypretty!). They seem to have a been on hiatus, or comeback vibe - like they're used to being bigger, but it could be just me. Covered a Revenants(?) song, but otherwise original. Nice fast rock, could use more guitar solo, natch. Would see again. Videos seem to be OK

Good night, but finished way too early - done and dusted before 11 o'clock.
