Hypothetically Saturday Night @ Clancy's

A four band gig marks the final date for Stimulėyės Hypothetical tour - and I saw 'em all! I've not seen Crailbone, and only seen Pontianak once (last night). I have a feeling I have mcT'd St. Tragedy before, but I'll have to check notes.

Came in with three Pontianak songs to go. Still too late for kitchen shenanigans.

Pontianak have now been seen twice. I hadn't heard of them before yesterday. Well played Pontianak. Their guitars sing, lead vox can belt 'em out and has a voice, and drummer's a pounder. If they keep this place up they'll be in my favs list before very long at all. Didn't appear to have the same probs as last night (lead g was barely audible last night in case I didn't write notes), and seemed to be enjoying themselves very much. Yeah, I'll see em again. Spoke to vox after set, she is Indo, and the band name comes from an Indo/Malay ghost legend. I wonder why they chose the Malay version of the spirit's name.

St Tragedy - 4-piece, standard setup. Late (tardy, not dead) bassist - got told off by sound guy: "You should-a been here a half hour ago!" 😁 Rock with rhythm. Another 5 string bass. Bass got first chance to sing, did a good job, seemed to be exploring his range. Would see again.

Crailbone are third up, and given its not yet 10, it looks like another early one tonight. Aaand I ended up liking them more than I thought I would. Screamy vocals occasionally, but probably closer to Aerosmith screamy than deaththrashspeed-killu-demonspawn-metal (or whatever it's called 🤣) screamy. Rocking hard but not mass destruction hard. A li'l heavy, but I could get into this. They can jam, which helps - there's an obvious love of the music, and when he's not screaming vox has a decent voice. 😄 Would see again.

Stimulėyės finished the night. Tried to get video single, but stuffed it up and missed the last minute or so. These guys rock, but I do think they need one more in the band. Very animated lead backed by enthusiastic drumming, Stimulėyės are a great band to watch. Interested to see how they go - would see again.
