Sunday Sesh - Pay what you can - What a concept!

Very quiet Sunday sesh at the Indy. Four bands on, including 12 Parsecs who I've wanted to see since mcT'ing them at the Bird one time

Walked in 2/3 through Kind Of Strange's set. Heavy, guitar drenched slow rock from (mostly) hairy band. 😄 Bassist has a 5-stringer. Didn't catch a lot, but when they get going, it's really good. Interested enough to look out for so they can have a proper once-over. Didn't have enough time to catch a full songvid, but would see again.

12 Parsecs are too young to even know how to play the way and the style they play, but fuck it's good. Enough solos (that I didn't capture, argh!) to keep even me mollified. Drummer pounds nearly as good as herself in Ber Ber Berrn - how is it the heaviest two hitters in Perth bands (not including AMN) are waifish chicks? I thought it was a muscle-man's game. Bassist is very animated, but could do with some more volume to stand out. This feels like a brother/sister + friend band. Will see again.

Third band of the gig is About J. Trio with lead vox and g + drums n bass. Been around for a bit - they need to put their newer stuff on Bandcamp. They know how to rock/bop and work quite well together. Guitar work is good. A couple covers, but they weren't bog standard, so I could bear them, snobby fuck that I am. 🤣 Would see again.

Band four, Bribery have fans that think parking seats right in front of the stage is cool. Do millennials not know what a dance floor is? Trying to not let the fans cloud the review, but I'm not super impressed with the band. Lead g has some chops, and bass is a slapper, which works with their music. I don't appear to have video'd a song.
