Late shift @ the Lounge
Saw most of the third band (of 4).
Ok Stimulėyės rock and I'm happy with choosing the lounge over the Bird. Stimulėyės are action-packed. 2 piece, guitar/drums. Solos, horizontal ground contortions, attempted high kicks, they've got it all. Video'd a song, got ready to instapost and he says he's about to play the current new single. Ergo, video'd two songs. They need ppl to dance, but they're a concert/show band. A good dilemma to have. Would see again.
Speaking of dilemma, last band are Dial Emma - see what I did there, now I'm in the know 😂 - and the place has definitely filled up. DE: 4 guitars + drums. Bass doesn't do vocals but everyone else does. Wonder if it will finish like last time? 😄 (Nope, no 'when i say "Dial", you say "Emma"'.) Crowd managed to drag one more song out of 'em, but lead vox has a broken voice and couldn't go any further. What troopers! (legit). Lead g has a melodious counterpoint role in their song, it's like a signature sound. I could learn to like these guys - they seen to think about their rock. Would see again - with growing interest.
Do I check out The Bird on the way home? Why not?
Door chick is all 'Are you sure, it's $20 and we close in half an hour'. Rocksperth is sure about supporting the scene.
And so i manage to catch a couple Navisha songs before the night's closing time. Very definitely a pop singer - the band are good, but they've got keys instead of lead g, i don't think they'd know what a guitar solo was anyway and just the concept of a drum solo would be outside their ken. :-D
Having said that, the fact I include Abba and the BeeGees as bands I listen to shows I know there's nothing wrong with good pop and Navisha does good pop music. The voice is alluring. the band are tight, the whole ambience draws you in. Would see in a 4-band line-up, and would definitely check out in a festival gig like Bloom.
