Lounging with a munchkin
Almost Forever, West Envy, Demi Doyle and First Offence were tonight's groups. I took video, but no notes. Everyone was worth watching and is on my to see again list. Too busy socialising, lol. Also picked up a bunch of musical stuff on account of the munchkin is a bloody good guitarist. "They make it look easy" he said of West Envy.
First up were Almost Forever. Enjoying watching these guys come together. Their music's good and the songs are angsty without wallowing in the melodramatic. In my more facetious moods, I ponder what a love song would sound like from them. 😄
I tried something a bit different with that video ...
Second on the gig were First Offence. I saw them at four5nine just recently. Their regular bass player was missing from the line-up tonight. Cool rocking outfit, could see them go places as they mature if they stick together.
Third (has anyone noticed I didn't mcT any bands 🤣) was a group I haven't seen before: Demi Doyle. Chick led (vox and lead) pop/rock with keys, bass and drums holding it together. Singer has a good voice and the music grooves, but I'll need to see again to do a proper review.
Headline/final act were West Envy. I haven't heard of these guys, but there's too much professionalism and skill for them to have just woken up out of high school. Tight, deceptively good guitar work and they're very obviously a group, and not a bunch of players all on the same stage. Will see again, and probably do some research in the meantime.
To explain some of the humour attempts: he's in his 30s and stands about 6ft tall.
