Lynott's: Video report card: 'F'

Dec. 13, 2025

Making a conscious effort to improve my video technical skills. Tonight, I failed

Bands on tonight: The Foltines, Lakefield Temple, Maple and Loud Mountain. It was a family day and I got there later than usual (including mcT time). Walked into Lynott's in the middle of Lakefield meaning I saw 1 1/2 sets.

Lakefield Temple are definitely a better band than the first time I saw them. I got there halfway through a cover of Springsteen's 'Born to Run'. This is sorta acceptable as they have a saxophonist and Born to Run is a good vehicle to show your saxy talents.

Headline band - who I only saw recently at Clancy's dual stage night - were The Foltines. I wish I had taken decent videos, coz I think I'm going to like this band. Guitars all around, they know how to do a solo, there are no bpm concerns, and they look like they're enjoying themselves. Lead vox realised I was at the Clancy's gig and came and said hello. Told him I liked their music and bandwork and promised to send my awesome videos that he saw me capturing. Sigh. Will see again.

In line with the new 'tradition', I found myself strolling into The Bird after the Lynott's gig had finished. Gerard from work was there: 'I didn't know you were into music' 🤣 Glimmer were the band playing. Got a (chipmunk) video of their new single too. Oh well. Also found myself buying a band t-shirt (mainly because they tried to give me one for free, I think). That was an interesting surprise.
