Martian riffs, apparently
Osiris Lights headlined Bloodwood, Lotus and Young Lennon at Inglewood's Milk Bar on Saturday 7 September.
I arrived just at the start of Bloodwood's set (original intention was attendance at another gig, but that went awry and the Milk Bar was plan 'B') and was treated to some very fine guitar work by both bands.
Driven by a powerhouse drummer, Bloodwood rock! Awesome work by the guitarists and some good energy between the guys at front. The only band to have anything on the merch desk.
Finishing the (rather short) evening, headliners Osiris Lights then came on. The band have an unusual setup with vocalists to the left and right of the stage and the centre position being held by bassist and lead guitar. I'm not complaining - I think it's good to see a band that knows who's important in the line-up! :-)
Another 'bands and friends' gig. It must be interesting to be the main band in the gig, but to have the smallest audience, since everyone is there at the start of the night, but as each band finish, they and their friends go home (or wherever) and then the headliners are left with no audience.
Meanwhile, there's punters out there complaining that there's no live music in Perth and yet each week there are multi-band gigs with less than 20-30 people having a good time listening to local original music. I don't get it.
Went home with my new LP - Bloodwood's Solaris on coloured vinyl no less. We're buying records again!
