Mojo's - Friday

Glad I came, but didn't get here till band #1 was packing up (indecision + mcT, tonight). Anyway Ursula are now setting up, and if there are only two bands to go these are gonna be long sets. 😀 Notices time - ok, maybe not quite as long as I thought.

I'm not sure it this is my second or third time with Ursula, I have a feeling there was a chickrock fest night with them, but it could have been Grub. I know I saw them with Grub and Aussie Critters at the Bird. Jasper (from Foothead et al) on drums. I quite enjoy watching Ursula - they switch lead singers and also duo-vox when it suits them. Rhythm g chick also cuts a few lead riffs, every now and then, if I'm not mistaken. Two lead guitars interact well, drummer knows his shit - which is why he's in every other band, and bass looks like she's enjoying the fuck out of everything. And the rock, rocks. 😀

Would see a third (or fourth time). Album should be coming out soon, but it's taking ages - and is threatening to take ages more! Yay, product.

Rapid are the finishing band. And they put on a f'ing good show. They are very happy with new stuff, but threats to not play old stuff anymore were pooh-pooh'd by lead g. 😁 I am sure I've seen these guys before, and if I didn't say will see again, I was wrong. Will see again. They got screamy g, songs that go for six-minutes, a good sense of how to bring it together, and they work really well as a unit. In any other universe they'd be on the radio. This may be the reason I took twice as many videos as Ursula, as I was surprised to find out when I started this review.

Blush! are here! Turned up just in time for Rapid's set. The band that hangs together stays together, I guess. 😁
