Next gen - rockin' the future!
Totally skipped Calico City. My strong feeling that they're at least mostly a cover band means I'm not awfully upset, though I probably should be. Also Mr Red & Blue on the board again.
Saw a good chunk of Sidetracked's set. They got the rhythm, and are growing into the rock. The harmonies work and they can dual vocalise - a possibility that could be further explored methinks (like the Cars or Eagles) - as lead g had to step up when lead vox got a froggy 🐸 throat toward the end of the set. Five piece with drums, keys, lead g, bass g and vox/rhythm g, all male. (Coz it's at the point where you can't assume. W00t! 😁)
Lead vox was bought a drink after the set - as has been known to happen - that it was dad buying a lemonade made me smile. Not long till he'll be getting free beers from random punters if they keep going. 😁
Next up are one of those groups that have a person's name as the band name. Namely Rodney Starfish. They surf-psych rock according to bio. I believe the 'psych' comes from the echo and soundchamberish effects. They've got the rock that Sidetracked are heading towards. I quite like them: danceable, can bust out the guitar solos - not yet as strong
The reason we're here - and the band i have no notes on - is Sour! All chick four piece with a whole bunch of enthusiasm and drive. If they keep that up they'll make it on sheer energy alone! No notes, as mentioned, but I did manage two original songvids, so I must have been recording the moment that way. 😁 They have crowd presence ahead of their years, drummer can hit, and they share limelight fairly well though bass could step forward a bit more. Twin lead vox/lead and rhythm guitar seem to be the driving force but the whole band are tight. Did I see a very short guitar solo or two in 'Heart made of Silver'? Sensing things to come here ...
