(not) Foothead at the (not) Rosemount
four5nine (not Maddington's phone prefix) - love it! This is NOT the Rosemount of my youth. My apologies to the venue for not going to bands up to now simply because they were playing here. It's a small stage, with long and skinny dancefloor. For intimate gigs. One would get quite sweaty if it was full and rocking. This is not a bad thing.
Missed The Points. mcT I'm calling it from now on.
Got there as Noise Abatement started their set. They are Bunbury rockers and are difficult to find online - 'noise abatement band' points to legislation about preventing bands from being public nuisances (as if a band could even be a public nuisance). There's a lot of energy in the band - and they enjoy rocking. Would see again, but they may be a bit wedded to their hometown. The band announced their name at the end of the set and gave up song names, so points there. I took 1.5 videos - one needs to be at least slightly comfortable if one is standing in one spot for 3-5 minutes. The full video is shorter than the half!
Didn't realise till after the set finished that I didn't take any photos.
The Drowners are up next. Very interesting to see the crowd change - like dayshift/nightshift. Given the somewhat gothic air they brought to the stage thie is apt. A little bit 'team of champions' - each has their own personality - but they mesh well. Band all wore shades to start, but the drummer went to eyes by the second song. Lead singer has a voice that tends to the androgynous. It's him singing Dancing for a Dollar. Good set, I was boogieing - more than the kiddies! Will see again. Voice could carry this band far, plus they're tight together. Songs were dedicated to the sound guy at the back, but their insta suggests the gig was in aid of Pope Francis' recovery. Keys plays a DeepMind 6 - I don't know why I noted this.
Turning Myself Inside Out For You - Drowners - video by mcalex

Blush closed the night. Same band twice in one week and it wasn't Volcanics or Foothead! These chicks (and guitarist) rock! Proper R'n'R too, nothing 'girlie' about it. Anyone who says women can't rock is clueless. Will see again - but given how 'everywhere' they are at the moment, that probably wouldn't be avoidable anyway. :-) Again, no photos but i scraped one from a vid. :-(
