Quixotic! at the Fish Pub!
The Quixotics launched their new album 'New World State of Mind' at Clancy's Fish Pub, Freo on January 3rd. Cool band, very tight, but not really mcalex-grabbing music. I did like the bassist's guitar, and will have to see if I know anybody who might be able to tell me what it is.
It was an album launch, so regardless of lacking in fanaticism, mcalex does have new vinyl, of course. :-D

And then Black River Ransom came on. Wow!
Their drummer is an absolute belter. Those drums stay hit. Good, hard driving, powerhouse drumming through the whole set.
Lead guitarist almost looks a caricature of a swamp rock legend - from the muppets. I mean that with no disrespect - Electric Mayhem are the coolest.
They started as a two-piece and then suddenly became a trio when what looked like some punter in the crowd deciding to get up and have a go, was actually the bass guy either finishing his beer, or not being needed for the first song or I don't know, waiting to see if the vibe was there.
And they rock. I am going to see these guys again. Did I say Wow?
