Saturday Live - guess where?
Clancy's of course, where I came in half(ish)-way through the first set. Not such a great result when I wanted to get here in time for a meal, but the kitchen was shut. Sigh, mcT.
So walked in and said "That's Lefty" to myself - I think I saw them once about 9 months ago - finishing up. Two and a half songs, but enough to video the single. Camera issues mean no insta reel post - drats. Chick drummer, three guitars, they know how to do it. Good rock, but needs more oomph to make it great.
Second band of the night are Who's Elliot? Starting with an April Lavigne cover of sk8r boi. Followed by teenage dirtbag - the lesbian version 😁. Oh yeah, chick band, 6-piece with keys, lead, dual-vox and guys on 5-string bass and drums (a pounder). Will be good to check out when they're not a cover band.
Third set courtesy of Mister Sister. At first, I wasn't entirely sure if they were suited to the show. Cabaret pop(?) and covers. Started with a cover of Chili Peppers' Aeroplane, I like that they worked it different, but I'm not the biggest fan of the song so I was a bit meh. Can't deny lead vox has a voice, but I wasn't feeling it for that style of music, nor song selection on the night. Would think about seeing again. Wasn't going to record - aaand then they pull out 'Since I've been loving you' by Led Zep. I think I'd like them if they a) played originals, and b) did rock more often, not the type of sound they were producing tonight.
Band closing out the night are a 3 piece - Scatterback. And they made an OK night great! Jayme may have competition (nahhh, Headspin competition maybe, Jayme is still tops 😁). Guitar, and lots of it. Good vocals, drums on point and really good original rock. Def made the night. Will see again.
And there was a hot topside roast waiting when i got home. 🍖 Result!
