LoveMeNot enough to Waltz @ Lynott's

March 8, 2025

Single launch for LovesMeNot's latest 'Waltz'. Neither photo nor video skills were up to scratch.

The Cryptids were up when I walked in. Caught a good chunk of the set and took some video. Lead keys also flauts! Haven't seen a flautist since Sick Visor in the middle of last year. My walk-in song was pure shoe-gaze - about 20bpm! The next song was more up-tempo, then the flute came out in a much rockier song. I wish I'd video'd it, but got the one after - or most thereof. On bandcamp, bought some product. Would see again to check out how they evolve. Not the best video, below, but they're having fun so it's worth watching. :-D

moyamoya were the second band I saw. Fuck! Intelligent, hard and fast. Art punk, apparently. Crowd pleasing song Fuck Clive Palmer had 'em dancing. Good, hard rock (or art punk) with a message. Will see again, when they back this way. Lead singer had us checking out the Warren-Blackwood election results and was disappointed there was a swing toward the Nationals. Music slowed down (very) slightly toward the end. Excellent to see they could do melodic, fast rock as well as the straight-up, go-hard simple stuff. One video with two songs, both blurry. I'll fix if I find some time, but haven't put them up yet.

Lovemenot wound up the evening. They are launching a new single Waltz (and they're on bandcamp so I have a new single Waltz) and their music is a lot more rock than their presence indicated. Psychadelic stuff, hard rock stuff, guitar up the wazoo! Might need to work out who they are coz the music is a bit schizophrenic. This is not bad. Pretty awesome single for a debut effort. Will see again, I like (those guitars!) and I'm quite interested to see what comes next.

Only video I took worth watching is the new one (I think).
