Taking out the old man
I missed Uranium Dog (mcT, plus looking for the highly camouflaged entrance). I saw them recently and quite like them so a bit disappointed.
Chasing Jayme were the first band I saw. Working through a broken ACL, lead g stubbornly refused to let his injury slow him down and was moving about - and occasionally grimacing - as per normal. All the hits were there, a showcase of Vox with polish. Really good set - even though i was thinking the whole time 'you shouldn't be doing this'.
Tritus were third on the list, second for me. That Flying V! Each time I see Tritus I like them more. There seems to be more focus on originals and the guitarwork is exemplary. It's a pity I saw them first at that weird Freo gig, i have a feeling it wrongly influenced my opinion. Will have to remember to take fresh eyes next time i see them.
Finishing were Paint The Sky - the new, eclectic(?), experimental(?) side-project for Jon. Including Chasing Jayme stablemate Kirk on acoustic g, plus electric and bass guitars, keys and Jon taking on lead vox. It's interesting listening to a richer brand of music - the acoustic mixes well with the electrics - and you have fun picking out the instruments' different strains. They're threatening to play a diverse range of genres (possibly including disco, but we'll see 😁).
The night (at Macedonia Park) finished early. Rocksperth kicked on ...
