Thought I'd check out a follower's gig onna Sund'y 'arvo
Indy hotel. Sunday. I have a truckload of home work to do. Giglist says Bella Dyer is playing at the Indy. Home work can wait.
Saw almost all of Harriet Hawthorne. Folksy, rocky chick with enough attitude to make her vulnerability edgy, or her edginess vulnerable depending on how you wanna come at it. Voice occasionally transcends into angelica it should be to say for rock, but it works. Would likely see again.
Bella! Hello! Set was much more - and better- than I was expecting. Not a chick with an acoustic, a band (including a runner on guitar as Bella copped an injury during previous play 😄). Chick band with only the ring in carrying sausage - I probably shouldn't say that. 😁 Kicked off with a cover of High by Radiohead (someone should tell Devon Street), and finished with a cover of You Oughta Know. I insta'd the sweary bit. Want to see more originals and tweak up the rock a bit. That guitarist has some talent waiting to unleash, and I reckon Bella has a song or two in her.
Oakabella Mae's 'next' first song was dedicated to Noongar ppls. Nice touch. Songs about fitting in and things not being as they should be. I'm certain bass/vox from About Yesterday plays bass in this band too. Maybe a bit emotional for mine - the rock inspiration is there, but it's allowed to wallow in self pity too much. Get angrier!
OMG, they're all in black! 😁🤘🎸 Jack Hamilton, this is the Way. Bopping rock coaxes you to your feet, and will require that when they've got a bit more crowd experience - and a crowd that isn't mainly performing arts students - under their belt
A very pleasant way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Will have to do it again sometime.
