I - Chapter 2

Overall chapter impression:

Lost for a bit but this mostly made sense. I had a hunch about teaching.

Notes: (commentary and/or scribble I wrote to look at/up later)

ummm, what just happened? is this a flashback?

Leaned spear: Lend ear

I prefer unrequited bridge

Which lycidas? I think Lucan

Actuality of the possible as possible - back later, after I learn philosophy and brush up on my physics

Haines chapbook. Oh ok, this is after. School kip. I get it.

Mum's back...

Imps of fancy of the moors - djinn or metaphor?

"I don't mince words", ROFL

More jew-ranting

Stuff I don't get:

Why is the text book gorescarred?

No idea about the fox riddle or the rapine bit later. Guessing some old English folk tale.

Another reference I can't make out: the whole Lal, ral, ra, raddy ditty.

What does '.. who was no better than she should be' mean?"

And, in conclusion:

So Stephen has gone to the school house, picked up money for later and is out for a walk to deliver letters to be printed in the paper.
